Taking a brain break: student blogger

10/12/2021

This week I took the opportunity to participate in a fitness-based event called Brain Break. Brain Break is an event that MoveU puts on every year in order to allow students an outlet to take a break from exams and studying to move their bodies and get in some exercise. This year there were seven different classes offered over the course of two days, each one different from the other. Although registration was required for this event, you were able to attend as many or as few of the classes. Must I mention, everything is virtual so you are able to do it from the luxury of your own home! No transportation required.

I decided to participate in the body conditioning class not only because it sounded interesting to me, but also because with exam season upon us, it was the class that fit best into my busy schedule. I will admit, I have been extremely stressed recently due to the high demand of studying and projects I had to complete but oh my gosh, body conditioning was so much fun and was also a great way to take my mind off of everything that is going on this week!

If you are at all familiar with the Sport & Rec Virtual Fitness Studio, it is exactly comparable to how Brain Break works. You registered through the same website as you would to book any other offering through Sport & Rec. From here, I was sent an e-mail containing a link that gave me access to all of the program offerings that were a part of the Brain Break event. I was able to log on through Zoom and participate in the class. It was that easy!

Another benefit to being a part of the Brain Break event is that there were cool gift cards to be won. All participants were put into a draw towards winning gift cards to various locations. What a great deal, you have the opportunity to get a great workout in for free, with the added benefit of potentially coming away with a prize. Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of this opportunity?

I definitely wish I had more time to participate in another class or two because I had so much fun during the body conditioning. I will definitely be sure to spread the word to my friends when Brain Break takes place next. I am already looking forward to the next time I get to participate in this event!
