Welcome to the 2018/19 academic year --- another exciting one to be a student, faculty or staff member at U of T.
Our Faculty’s mission is to develop, advance and disseminate knowledge about the interactions of physical activity and health through education, research, leadership and the provision of opportunity. We deliver this mission to the undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Faculty’s academic programs through outstanding research and teaching, and to all U of T students through the wide range of co-curricular sport and recreational physical activity programs offered by the Faculty.
This year, for the second year in a row, the QS World University Rankings placed the University of Toronto programs in kinesiology, physical education, and sport and exercise sciences sixth in the world. This important recognition is indicative of the growing global relevance of the discipline of kinesiology, and serves as further incentive for our Faculty to continue the steady progress we are making against the priorities set out in our Strategic Academic Plan.
Whether you are enrolled in the Faculty’s undergraduate or graduate degree programs in kinesiology, physical education and exercise science, inquiring about facilities and programs available for recreation and active healthy living, or exploring the opportunities to excel as a Varsity Blue, I am confident that you will find the opportunities, inspiration and support you need.
Our staff and faculty worked tirelessly over the summer to fine-tune the curricular and co-curricular programs and infrastructure that the Faculty provides to the entire U of T community to enrich our University of Toronto students’ university experience.
I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities and extend best wishes for a wonderful and active 2018/19 academic year!
Ira Jacobs, DrMedSc, FCAHS
