UTAPS

UTAPS stands for the University of Toronto Advanced Planning for Students program. It is the University of Toronto’s largest need-based support program and covers the financial gap between a student’s actual education costs and the costs recognized by their provincial/territorial government student financial aid program. In other words, UTAPS covers unmet financial need.

Through UTAPS, U of T provides non-repayable grants to students to help cover this financial need gap, or unmet need. Learn more about UTAPS.

MASTER OF PROFESSIONAL KINESIOLOGY PROGRAM (MPK)

Students in professional master’s programs typically self-fund their educational expenses through a variety of programs including student loans, student lines of credit, personal savings and employment income.

Loans

Students in the MPK program are eligible for government student loans such as the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or other provincial loans. Students who are eligible for government loans may also qualify for the University of Toronto Financial Aid (UTAPs) grant.

Students who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons may be eligible for financial assistance from their provincial or territorial governments. Learn more about other loans and student lines of credit.

Scholarships and Grants

Prospective MPK applicants can apply for Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS) The value of the OGS is $5,000 per session. Thus, awardees may receive $10,000 for two consecutive sessions or $15,000 for three consecutive sessions. Learn more about Ontario Graduate Scholarships.

MASTER OF ARTS (MA) and MASTER OF SCIENCE (MSc) IN KINESIOLOGY PROGRAM 

Funding

The Graduate Department of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto provides MA/MSc students with a base funding package equivalent to $8,500 plus tuition and incidental fees for years 1 - 2 of the full-time MA/MSc program.

The funding package may include funds from a variety of sources, including University of Toronto Fellowship (UTF) stipend, teaching assistantship hours, research assistantship stipend, and internal and external awards.

DOCTOR OF OF PHILOSOPHY IN KINESIOLOGY PROGRAM (PHD)

Funding

The Graduate Department of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto provides doctoral graduate students with a base funding package equivalent to $17,750 plus tuition and incidental fees for years 1- 4 of the full-time PhD program.

The funding package may include funds from a variety of sources, including University of Toronto Fellowship (UTF) Stipend Award, Teaching Assistantship Hours, Research Assistantship Stipend, Departmental Awards, Teaching Assistant positions and/or Research Assistant positions, Internal and External Awards.
